Loving More Than One

Polyamory as it relates to my life and written from my perspective only. MY thoughts, feelings and opinions.

No Sleep Makes For Bad Thinking

on April 21, 2010

Regarding my blog on grieving the fairy tale, I have to apologize for how I presented that. In my defense, I hadn’t had more than 2 hours of sleep a  night for a week or more. Sleep deprivation apparently doesn’t lend itself to helping me think and write clearly.

I do believe that getting past things is easier if you can get over the “fairy tale”. You have to believe that the way we are taught by society is not the only way to do things. Society teaches the fairy tale. Polyamory isn’t that fairy tale. Though it’s possible to have a different fairy tale.

I shouldn’t have said that basically you can’t believe the promises and reassurances. I know that they are said with all the good intentions and belief of the one giving them. Take Dirk and I as the example again, I do believe that he means what he says. And, truthfully, I have to actually believe it myself to the best that it is possible. Otherwise, how could I stay with him. I suppose my point is that…both Dirk and I have talked about this and we both now know that some things can change all you’ve ever believed and, therefore, there are no guarantees. Not that we give promises lightly. Not at all. We strive to make sure we live up to our promises. Living up to our word is very important to us. Not doing so was hard for us both.
